Higher Ground

Greetings in the name I love to hear, the name of Jesus! Those of you that know me I am a lover of the Hymns, The songs my parents taught me, the songs that we would sing as I was a young child growing up in church. Many of the songs are embedded in my spirit, they are the songs that motivate and inspire me to make it day by day and one of my favorite among so many is Higher Ground.

There are 4 Verses to this song, Verses that gives you the ability to fight the good fight of faith and the determination to press on in Jesus, To weather the storms of life, To take a stand against the enemy, To run on to the end and be saved!

Verse 1
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Verse 2
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.

Verse 3
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.

Verse 4
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till heav’n I’ve found,
“Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.”

Refrain:
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s tableland,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.

This song should be every child of God desire, to have their feet planted on Higher Ground, Thanks Johnson Oatman, Jr. for allowing God to inspire you to write and compose this song that would live much longer than you would. A song of Inspiration, A song of determination.

Higher Ground was written by Johnson Oatman, Jr.,in 1898
