Bishop Norman L. Wagner (1942-2010)

Bishop Norman L. Wagner, longtime pastor of Mount Calvary Pentecostal Church on Oak Hill Avenue and past leader of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World, died Saturday. He was 68.

The Youngstown native graduated from South High School and Youngstown State University before earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in theology from Aenon Bible College in Columbus and Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis. He was installed as pastor of Mount Calvary in June 1971 and went on to author several books and establish a senior citizens complex, Calvary Christian Academy, and a television and gospel choir ministry, which brought him national recognition.

When Calvary Christian Academy closed in 2001, Wagner led the opening of a charter school, Legacy Academy for Leaders and Arts that year and still served as chairman of that school.

He was a guest at the White House on several occasions, including a 1982 luncheon at which President Ronald Reagan recognized 100 “Outstanding Black Clergymen in America.”

In 1976, The Vindicator named him one of the 10 most progressive pastors in the city.

He leaves his wife, Dr. Rita Helen; two daughters and a granddaughter.

Mayor Jay Williams, who attends Mount Calvary, said Bishop Wagner was charismatic, committed and a man of intelligence and integrity. He was committed in his service to God and serving others, and you couldn’t know him without coming away with a desire to serve others, the mayor said.

Wagner was known across this country and the world, yet he was a humble man committed to his ministry and his mission to serve, Williams said. His loss “is indeed incalculable” to his church and the community, Williams said. He added that he and his wife, Sonja, who also attends Mount Calvary, are “eternally thankful for the indelible impact that Bishop Wagner had on our lives. We will seek to honor his family and his legacy through our work serving others.”

Jason Whitehead, the mayor’s chief of staff and an assistant pastor at Mount Calvary, described Wagner as a “visionary” and “an exceptional religious leader of his time.”

Wagner was bishop of the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World’s 13th Episcopal district, which is the state of Texas, Whitehead said. As a national evangelist, he was much sought after as a preacher and teacher in Pentecostal apostolic circles, he said.

He had also served as a bishop in Europe for Assemblies, with his diocese being the European Council of Nations, Whitehead said.

His death is “a tremendous loss to the ministry,” Whitehead said, noting that impact will reach far into the community as well. Wagner was perhaps one of the best known ministers of any color in this area, he said.

Wagner’s service as pastor to his church would have reached 39 years in March. He grew up in Mount Calvary, Whitehead said, explaining that his mother had been a charter member of the church.

Theirs a song that simply Say's It's only a test you're going through, Hold on keep the Faith for it only just a test. So when the fiery trial come at you and things to hold you down and/or to discourage you think it not strange but rejoice inasmuch knowing that you are a partakers of Christ Sufferings.

Truth Be Told

Is There Anyone Listening?

On this day January 14, 2004, I became critical ill and was rush to the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, For what I did know what was at that time going wrong and had to undergo a 12 Hour Emergency Surgery, and since that time death came on 4 different times but thanks be to God who has gotten us the Victory through his sled blood for us on Calvary, I can truly say that I been bless, I Got A Testimony. So On this day I decided to let my blog followers know that on this day January 14, 2010 I still got victory and I'm yet rejoicing in the God on my salvation.....

You Are A Overcomer Through Jesus Christ

Jesus came, died and bleed so that we could be saved! And being saved gives us the power to overcome many things that come upon us in our day to day walk with him from the devil, But the Lord has given us the power to overcome our trials,fears and other things that come to hinder our walk with him. For his word declares that on the cross where his suffered, died and bleed that he has overcome them all so that we would have peace, love and joy in the Holy Ghost... So lift up your heads and be encourage to know that you are a Over comer and that your tribulation are just your stepping ground to the victorious things ahead of you for you are a "Over comer" It's a done deal, sign, sealed and delivered by the Lord!!!!

The Power Of The Tongue

Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof. Proverbs 18:21 KJV

The Tongue is oh so powerful, It can speak Life and it also can Speak Death and the love of that same tongue eat the fruit thereof it.

How you use your own tongue can bring life to you and those around you, It can cause the unsaved one to know Christ as you witness to them to God's Salvation Plan, It can be comfort to those in sorrow that will give them consolation, It can be used to sing the praises of God, It can bring healing to the sick The Tongue oh so powerful but can be oh so deadly. Cause someone to shed a tear, cause someone to never know about the loving God you say you serve.

Often times you can tell where a person is with God by the use of there Tongue, I would like to challenge you to examine how you use your tongue, Weather it's to bring forth Life or to bring Death, I choose to speak life into your life both spiritual and natural and that you have Life and It more abundantly. I speak Life that you may prosper as your soul does prosper in God, I speak life in your health, your finance, I speak life that family members hear the voice of God through you to be saved....

I refuse to speak Death but Life.... So take time to examine what your tongue is speaking, Is it Life or Death?

"If"

If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. Now mine eyes shall be open, and mine ears attent unto the prayer that is made in this place. 2Chr 7:14-16....

Greetings beloved people of God, How often do we here this scripture quoted, preached and in return we ask from time to time Why don’t we hear from the Lord, and why are the saints sick, why is sin on a rampage and why aren’t our prayers being heard. Well I often ask the same question until the Lord revealed unto me in prayer and meditation. That the reason we don’t hear from him as we should is before we hear from him, we must follow his instructions to the tee.

The key focus of this verse of scripture is “If” This is the promise of God letting us know what the Lord would do for us "If" we do these things.... for example Humble Ourselves, Pray With Out Ceasing, Seek The Face of God, Turn From The Wicked Ways of Our Lives.

Must Christians/Saints don't want to apply themselves to the conditions that the Lord has given unto us therefore we don't hear from God. Remember "If" we do what been ask then we shall reap the benefits!!!!

People of God it’s time for us to apply the word as is and now as the way we want them to be… Daily examine yourself as much as the other person next to you for in the end it’s you that the Lord is going to question at the time of Judgment… I am Lord willing approaching 40 years of Spiritual Birth being saved at the age of 12 years old and If I but may paraphrase I once was Young but now I’m getting older and I yet to have seen the righteous forsaken me but my blessings have been hinder at times because of not following his word as prescribe but only as I wanted them to be. And it my earnest desires to please the Lord in all of my way that I might reap the full benefits of his blessings. So in closing I pray God choicest and richest blessings unto you and that you receive this Daily Nugget, Remember the key word to this passage of scripture is “IF”

Preparing For Battle

Ephesians 6:10 (KJV)

10. Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. 11. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12. for we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.13. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; 15. And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16. Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. Ephesians 6:10 KJV

Greetings in the name that’s above all other name given whereby we must be saved, The Name of Jesus, Once again I am so delighted that you have associated yourself with this ministry, Today I was thinking and the word of the Lord came to me as it relates to Preparing for the battle, Because the war is on an in Ephesians 6: verses 10 to 16 it gives us instruction as to how to prepare to win the race and the battle we face from day to day.

And Satan desires to have you for his own, and he knows that you desire to please the Lord in every way possible so in our everyday lives he brings things against us to literally destroy and to kill us. And we often ask the Lord why are we going through some of the things we go through being saved and filled with the Holy Ghost, We say to ourselves we go to church faithfully, pay our tithes and offering, pray, fast and why doing all that we are yet attacked by the enemy himself.

But as any solider in battle we must always stay on guard and lookout for the devil and the angels of darkness he assign unto us for defeat… We must remain dressed with the Whole Armour of God, Not partial dress but fully dress, A few years back something happen with me that took me for a blow and I set there crying and asking God Why? And the Lord spoke to me so clear and said Son you didn’t have on your entire Armour of God on and the devil saw it and went for the blow to destroy you.

But I the Lord your God block his blow to permanently take you down. I began to example myself, my life, my walk with God, and I sat there thinking I begin to see myself where I had started undressing the Armour of God. And as believers or the faith we must stand guarded at all times, for the devil is like a roaring lion seeking whom he may desire, he is targeting all he may that are not fully dress.

So I encourage you my brother, my sister that we must stay fully dressed at all times as true soldier on the frontline of battle as we are in the last of the last days and the devil himself know his time is at hand and it his desire is to take as many as he can to the lake of fire (Hell) with him for eternity.

So in closing be sure to clothed yourself in the Garment of the Lord’s Army, Surround yourself with the truth (The Word of God) Your bulletproof vest (The Breastplate of Righteousness) Your Feet with Combat Shoes (With The Preparation of The Gospel of Peace) and The Shield of Faith (The Word That Covers You From The Fiery Darts) The ones Satan sends at you while you’re not aware of his presents….

If we as people of God stay prepared we can stand the test, and be more than conquerors through him that loves us, and care for us, if we do our part God will cover and take care of the devil. Stay rooted in his word, pray daily, fast frequently, stay under his blood, his covering, remain faithful to his instructions, and you shall defeat the devil and cause him to back off from you because he has to honor the word of the Lord, It’s when we don’t abide by the word of God that we are wounded and/or defeated. So I encourage you to dress up for the battle at hand…. The race isn’t given to the swift but to the one who will endure unto thee end… So properly prepare for your battle!!!

Greater Grace Temple-City Of David Homecoming Reunion

On August The 22nd and the 23rd, 2009 Marked the 1st Homecoming Reunion Celebration in the history of Greater Grace Temple-City Of David, Established in 1927 by the late Bishop Ellington Forbes until 1962 and from 1962 until 1996 it was Pastored by Bishop David L. Ellis, Sr., Who took over a default church and with the help of the Lord grew the church from a small beginnings to what has become a land mark mega church known from across the nation. It was in 1996 that the Lord called Bishop David L. Ellis from Labor to Reward. After the untimely death of Bishop David L. Ellis, Sr., the mantle was then pass on to his eldest son Bishop Charles H. Ellis, III., Which much insight and vision Bishop Charles Ellis, Continue to fulfill the vision of his father and the Lord gave him favor to take the church to another level and this weekend will be a memory that will long be remembered. Enjoy the Video Presentation that I have prepared.... I was bless to attend the 2 Day Celebration and I must say I laughed, I cried, I hugged and I rejoiced with all the saints during this weekend celebration.
